Slow Food Aberdeen City and Shire is a friendly group of eager food lovers committed to promoting the Slow Food Movement’s principles of good, clean and fair food for all.
We are particularly proud of the wonderful larder the region has to offer and seek to reconnect producers and growers with customers in order to develop a sustainable food system.
We strive to make healthy affordable food accessible for all and believe that everyone has the right to food that is good for them, good for the planet and good for the people who produce it. As such, our intention is to raise awareness of local and global food issues whilst also defending biodiversity, small-scale agriculture and artisan food production.
By setting up our own projects and supporting other grassroots food initiatives, our aim is to create opportunities for people to learn how to grow, cook and enjoy good food together and in turn establish more community eating events in which to share the pleasures of food.
We encourage those involved in our private and public food sectors to support our ‘buy local, eat seasonal’ philosophy and whether dining in or dining out, eating at work or in school, to think first and foremost Slow Food!
If you are passionate about food, or want to learn more, we would love to hear from you.
